Sea Ranch Bday Getaway

This past weekend we enjoyed the lovely California seaside resort of Sea Ranch. Set along the coast it’s the perfect place to chill and be still (to steal part of THE HAI motto). We had a wonderful time hiking, reading by the fire, munching and down right relaxing.

Moomba and Kai came along for the adventure and I’m still not sure who had a better time … canines or humans.

On the way up to Sea Ranch we stopped at two Russian River wineries. The first was one of our all time favorites Rochioli. And to our extremely happy surprise we arrived to find they had released their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir early (two days before we got there). So after some wonderful tasting, a great conversation and a case in arms we moved on. Our friends at Rochioli had referred us to a newer winery, Copain. What a find!

Copain is as beautiful inside as it is outside and has fabulous wines to boot. James our Copain host slowly lead us through the tasting telling us about the wine maker (an ex marketing person who pursued his passion….why haven’t I received that memo yet), the winery and the of course the fantastic wines. While we were enjoying our tasting two women on vacation came in. Both originally from the Philly area and one who now lives in the SoCal Tulloch’s neck of the woods. After sharing Philly and Villanova stories our new SoCal Wine Compadre told us of a few great places to experience wine just south of the Tulloch Huntington Beach Border.

After our fun time in the winery we went outside for a bit of a picnic and Moomba and Kai were given their doggie keys to the vineyard where they ran around to their Aussie heart content. Satiated and thirst quenched we continued on to Sea Ranch for our uber relaxing weekend.

A wonderful time was had by all and what a great way to easy into another year!
