First Rain

We are having an unusually early first rain this year at THEHAI.  It’s a tropical rain though so pretty enjoyable as the plants are are still pretty green and lush.  If you listen real hard you can almost hear the doves and smell the plumerias from the Hawaiian tropics.

Hopefully the rains will help establish the winter crop of spinach, broccoli, lettuce and chard that made their way into the planter boxes last week.  Our planting lot may be small but there is something to be said for smart crop rotation (isn’t that what worked so well in the old days ;).
For a bit more background on smart crop rotation check out our friend Denise’s article on the Sci Fi Channel website:
We hope you all are enjoying the changing of the season and may fall bring you lots of happiness and a good harvest.
